Introducing Wahluna, a great peacemaker!

Posted by Cathryn Mahoney on

At the first location during our 2nd American Trip we followed a path around a cove on the Spokane River, Idaho, where we stopped awhile by a rocky outcrop.  Whilst standing by a large stone we were visited by some women, children, and a few warriors from a tribal band of the Nez Percé (Nimi'ipuu), and were approached formally by Chief Red Wolf's daughter, who introduced herself as Wahluna. She told us that she had been instrumental in bringing peace between her people and the Blackfoot following much bloodshed and heartache.  She told us we would soon meet again and she would tell us more about her story, which will be shared on our next blog.

This is an excerpt from our 2nd American Trip Journal
